초록Abstract

Streaming abundance has made 'what to watch' a decision problem in its own right. This paper examines choice deferral in OTT use — endless browsing that ends without watching — and its consequences for users' emotional well-being, showing that the effect is conditioned by individual maximization tendency: users who seek the best possible option, rather than a good-enough one, are most vulnerable to deferral and its affective costs.

Overview

The paradox of streaming abundance is that more options can mean less watching. This study links choice deferral in OTT platforms to downstream emotional well-being and identifies maximization tendency as the trait that determines who pays the psychological price of endless catalogs.
